About Us

Our Mission

We create wellness spaces where Black & Brown women can rest, reflect, & reclaim ease. We do this through retreats, workshops, & events that offer space to slow down, breathe deeply, & reconnect with what matters most.

Our Vision

We imagine a world where Black & Brown women no longer have to earn their rest; where care and wellbeing come first, not last.

A world where slowing down is normal, ease is expected and caring for yourself is a daily practice- not a rare escape.

Santee + Redwood exists to help build that world - one woman, one breath, one pause at a time.

Our Values

Utilizing our Liberated Wellbeing Framework, these values guide how we care- for you, for each other, and for ourselves.

Self-Trust
We believe you already have the answers inside you. We give you space to slow down, listen to yourself, & choose what feels right.

Intuition
Well-being doesn't look the same for everyone. We create experiences that help you follow what feels true, not what others expect.

Growth
Growth doesn't happen all at once. It's something that unfolds over time. We believe real growth is calm, steady, & personal.

Kindness
We move with care. We ask: Have I been kind to others? AND Have I been kind to myself? Kindness is a part of what we do.

Our Story

Santee + Redwood was born from the kind of care that runs deep—care passed down through generations of Black and Brown women. Our founder, Yolanda Jenkins, traces the heart of this work back to the homes of her grandmother and great-grandmother—places of comfort, belonging, and real rest. Those homes sat on streets named Santee and Redwood.

Today, Santee + Redwood is a love letter to that legacy. It’s a space for women to soften, reconnect, and be fully themselves. What started as a personal remembering has become a shared sanctuary—for those who are ready to tend to their own wellbeing with intention and grace.

Hey, I’m Yolanda Jenkins...

...founder of Santee + Redwood Wellbeing Studio, wellness & well-being advocate, and momma doing her best.

Like so many women of color, I’ve spent years wearing all the hats: wife, mother, nonprofit professional, community nurturer, spreadsheet slayer, snack distributor — the list is long. And while I was caring for everyone else, I realized I had forgotten to care for myself.

The wake-up call came during the pandemic, when my high-functioning anxiety hit a breaking point. With support, therapy, and a whole lot of unlearning, I began the slow, intentional work of returning to me — and centering my own humanity in the process.

That healing journey inspired the creation of Santee + Redwood Wellbeing Studio — a space designed to help Black and Brown women create room for their own needs, rest, and joy. Through our Liberated Wellbeing Framework, we offer tools that affirm your worth without requiring you to earn it.
